According to The Daily Breeze, a fire burned through the roof of a commercial building in Paramount on Monday, sending black smoke miles into the air. Los Angeles County firefighters were called to the blaze at about 8 a.m., said Fire Inspector Brian Riley. Crews were able to contain the flames to about a third of the building with an aggressive internal attack during their initial response, Riley said.
However, the fire grew so large that crews had to retreat to a more defensive approach. Workers in the area said the heat was so intense that windows and doors were blown out by the pressure of super-heated gasses. The owner of the business said it's a family owned operation and it wasn't insured for fire. Luckily, no one was hurt, but damage estimates are still being calculated.
